Iván Coto Hernández is the imaging specialist in the Surgical Photonics & Engineering Laboratory at Mass Eye and Ear (MEE). His research interest is to further advance super-resolution techniques and educate medical doctors on good microscopy practices. His imaging training started in the Italian Institute of Technology, where his doctoral thesis focused on the development of super-resolution STED microscopy. He then finished a postdoc at Paris-Sud University, where he combined STED microscopy with supercritical angle detection. Having developed a solid background in super-resolution microscopy, he then moved to MEE to apply his imaging skillset to aid discovery relevant to human health.
